What I Like To Chill Out To

Image
Today I'll be talking to a specific sub-genre of music I like to listen to when I'm studying, doing homework, driving, or just simply chilling out. That sub-genre is Lofi hip-hop. Now, I'm sure you're wondering what that it is. Lofi hip-hop is  A subliminal sub-genre of conscious hip-hop that is characterized by the high-utilization of elements such as introspection and seeks to engage with elements of human emotion. Elements such as high distortion as well as mellow sounds are more prominent features of any lofi hip-hop soundtrack. (https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=lofi%20hip-hop) Some artists of this include Substantial, Nujabes, Jinsang, Vanilla, J a r j a r, beatmachineron, and plenty more! If you're interested in taking a listen, this is typically the playlist I listen to.

The King Of Pop

Image
Michael Jackson is regarded as the king of pop around the world. He has sold roughly 750 million albums worldwide and is one of the best selling artists of all time. Michael Jackson first gained popularity in 1964 in a group composed of his other siblings, The Jackson 5. The Jackson 5 were actually one of the first groups of black performers to obtain a crossover following. Michael Jackson eventually began his solo career in 1971. By the 1980's Michael had taken the world by storm. In 1982, Michael Jackson released his hit album "Thriller" which remains to be the best-selling of all time. The album itself amassed seven top 10 hits.  Thriller remained on the music charts for 80 weeks and held the number 1 spot for 37 weeks. Michael released multiple albums after that such as "Bad" and "Dangerous" which also hold spots as some of the best selling albums in history. Around the mid-1980's, Jackson's skin noticeably began to become paler.

Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon 45th Anniversary

Image
March 1, 2018, marks the 45th anniversary of the beloved album by Pink Floyd, The Dark Side of the Moon. The album originally released on March 1, 1973, and has sold an estimated 45 million copies since then making it Pink Floyd's most successful albums and one of the best selling albums of all time.        In light of the recent anniversary, I decided today's blog post should be about all things Pink Floyd. Pink Floyd formed in 1965 in London. The band was founded by Syd Barrett, Nick Mason, Roger Waters, and Richard Wright. Pink Floyd is known for their psychedelic and progressive music. With the release of The Dark Side of the Moon, Pink Floyd blew up in the music scene. David Gilmour, guitarist and vocalist, joined the band in 1967. Barrett, the former lead vocalist, left in 1968 due to deteriorating mental health leaving Gilmour to lead the band. Roger Waters became the band's main lyricist and is credited with creating the concepts behind the albums The D

Hi everyone! Today I wanted to share a music video by the artist Drake. If you're unaware of who Drake is, he's a rap artist from Canada. He initially gained traction staring in a TV show called Degrassi: The Next Generation in the early 2000's. His true passion lied with music though, and he released his first mixtape called Room For Improvement in 2007. Since then he has gained massive popularity in the music industry and is one of the biggest artists today. If you wish to learn more about Drake, you can do so here:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drake_(musician) Now onto the music video:

Google vs Bing

Image
It goes without saying that Google is the largest search engine in the world. When you think of searching for something on the internet, you typically refer to it as "googling". Although it might seem as if Google is the only and true option for your search engine needs, it's not. There's plenty of other search engines out there, with Bing being one of the biggest. Bing is owned by Microsoft and it's their answer to all things involving searching the internet. Bing has many similarities to Google but also has its differences. At first glance, Google and Bing do look quite similar. They have an almost identical layout. Here's an example: BING GOOGLE As you can see both search engines are almost identical in their layout. You're provided with news relating to the actor towards the top of your search as some basic information along with pictures to the right. What is Gmail?

Gmail is a free email service that was developed by Google. Gmail was available on April 1, 2004, as a limited beta release and it later ended its testing phase on July 7, 2009. When Gmail launched it offered users with an initial storage capacity of one gigabyte, which was quite significantly higher than what other email companies were offering at the time. Jump forward to today, you now start with 15 gigabytes of storage initially. As of 2017, Gmail currently has 1.2 billion active users around the world.
